Presentation 1: Integrated Lighting in Wood Ceiling & Wall Systems
1 Learning Unit for AIA / HSW
• Discuss limitations to the current process of creating coordination/integration details.
• Recognize the value of factory-based “field cuts”.
• Understand the value of eliminating on-site decisions (i.e. field cuts/fabrication).
• Discuss solution-based integrations of LED fixtures into wood ceiling and wall systems.
• Examine a wood/light plug & play strategy vs. single sourcing.

Presentation 2: Considerations for the Design of Wood Ceilings and Wall Systems
1 Learning Unit for AIA
• Understand the various characteristics of wood species
• Discuss the configurations or profiles most commonly found in wood ceilings & walls
• Recognize the value of engineering and early involvement
• Identify the problem of bad acoustics and the possible solutions
• Review sustainable manufacturing through both product and practice
• Reinforce the need for life safety and the fire performance of wood
• Discuss solution-based integrations and the benefits of coordinated detailing
• Determine general costing for specific items and various wood species
