The Commons at a Battery Manufacturing Campus

The industrial environment has long prioritized efficiency, safety, and process, often at the expense of human presence and daily experience. This project comprises the Commons buildings at a battery manufacturing campus in Kingston, Georgia, conceived as shared commons that restore interaction and well-being within a highly regulated setting. Interior spaces minimize partitions to reduce isolation and encourage informal communication, while skylights and a shared courtyard reintroduce daylight, spatial openness, and sensory relief into daily routines. Together, these strategies support focus, psychological recovery, and social connection, demonstrating how human-centered environments can be integrated into contemporary industrial facilities.
