Nami
Year: 2024 Design & Honor Awards | Category: Interior Architecture
‘Nami’, the Japanese word for ‘wave’, carves a captivating experience where the theater of food is magnified by the drama of design! Discretely positioned in Lake Nona’s art-forward Wave Hotel, this intimate dining room will captivate your senses from the moment you step in. Once inside, guests feels a sense of detachment – immersive and dimly lit, attention is intentionally paid to focused lighting, curated sound design, and authentic materials to highlight and embolden the tastes and smells of the plate.
Design Challenge
Create a high-end, contemporary Japanese concept that embarks to set the standard for dining experiences. Catering to an affluent demographic, the food is the focus and the design should support the theater of food. Discreetly positioned in a manicured and landscaped sculpture garden, the exterior of the tenant space should respond to Lake Nona’s art-forward Wave Hotel and begin to tell the story of the concept from an exterior experience. Once inside, the 4,400 SF tenant space includes a cocktail bar with elevated mixology, a 10-seat Omakase, intimate dining room, full commercial kitchen, and an expectation to meet all the standards of the discerning and established client.
