This project aims to create an architectural structure facilitating an efficient transportation hub interchange system, linking disparate transit modes in Alibag city, India. The design of the transportation hub is carefully tailored to its surrounding physical environment, highlighting the integration of built and natural elements. Incorporating plazas and interactive spaces, the design fosters community engagement, enriching the city’s cultural fabric. By serving as a transit hub, the project bridges segregated transportation channels, seamlessly integrating into a sustainable infrastructure to meet the city and regional transportation demands.

Design Challenge

The proposed transportation hub project in Alibag city, India, presents a complex array of challenges and opportunities crucial for tackling urban mobility issues. The project aims to address congestion and disconnection prevalent in the area by seamlessly integrating various transportation modes and optimizing traffic flow. Efficiency and interchange enhancements are pivotal objectives, focusing on improving user experience and promoting public transportation usage through intuitive wayfinding and efficient transfer points.

Moreover, the project seeks to redefine the typology of transit hubs, offering opportunities for architectural innovation that reflect Alibag city’s unique identity. Resolving existing transit interfaces, including legacy infrastructure, demands meticulous planning to seamlessly integrate the new hub while enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal.
